DearFriendsThis isto share a sad news with you that Prof. Edward Agapito Rodrigues, Centre forthe Study of Social Systems, JNU, New Delhi, passed away today morning at hisresidence in JNU due to heart failure. He has been undergoing cancer treatmentfor quite some time.  Eddieas he was popularly known among friends and activist’s circle, earlier used toteach Sociology at Mumbai University. An academic activist he had been quiteactive in Mumbai for many years before moving to JNU few years ago.  Hisdead body is lying at his residence (169 Uttarakhand in JNU).  Tomorrow at 10 am a prayer mass would be heldat Dominique Church in Vasant Vihar, New Delhi. After that it would be takenfor burial to a cemetery in Dwarka, New Delhi.  Thosewho wish to pay last respect to Eddie, if available in Delhi, could come to hisresidence in JNU today or come tomorrow morning by 9am. The battle is in the fullest sense spiritual. There is nothing material or social in it. For ours is a battle not for wealth or for power. It is battle for freedom. It is the battle of reclamation of human personality.
