Another warrior walks on…

[…. all of what is said below was so true of Deena (E Deenadalayan). But what also always struck me about Deena was that he was always – but always - a really nice person, who retained his humanity and balance despite his deep engagement in deep, difficult issues. Which unfortunately, all too many of us lose, the deeper we think we are getting. And so and among many other things, I think that this is something very important that we can all learn from him, and carry forward, in his memory :

Deena passes on....

Thanks for posting this, Leo. Walk on in peace, my friend…

            Jai

Really a very bad and shocking news to share.

E. Deenadayalan (Deena), is no more. He was founding director of The Other Media, one of the pillars of PIPFPD since it's early days, a former Coordinator of Delhi Forum and former Director of Centre for Education and Communication (CEC), Delhi. His lead in the democracy and peace movement in Kashmir and Naga areas made him a very dear comrade to many, so was his and The Other Media's support to many struggles, including the Bhopal survivor's struggle for justice.

He passed away today, in Chile. As a family they were visiting their son Ilango, who was getting married there. He collapsed after developing discomfort and restlessness. Nimi, his wife, their younger son Imayan and older one Ilango, were with him... His pulse rate came drastically down, we are told. He couldn't be revived, though airlifted to a bigger hospital. The family is trying to get the paperwork done to get him back to India, to Bangalore for the last rites...

Deena's is a very shocking and bad loss... Condolences to his family and the whole progressive movement, which he was so dearly a part of...
