Hi Ashish

Thanks for this. This is not my ‘field’ – in the sense of being up-to-date on what else like this is available but out there, but yes, in its own way this does seem quite an astonishing – and impressive - marshalling of information. (Though I must say, that the claim to being the ‘First world-wide gateway to Covid-19’ is also quite, well, something !)

(In passing – or should I say, ‘in entering’ ? -, it’s interesting to see this being announced as the ‘First world-wide gateway to Covid-19’, where there we have Arundhati Roy suggesting to us that COVID-19 is itself a portal… to, perhaps, another world…; and where I think many of ‘us’ have adopted this as a way of seeing things. So… a gateway to a portal ?)

On the other hand (and there is, of course, always another hand !)…, and I say this also just for the information of others who may not have tried entering this gateway, this is (or seems to be, at first entry and then some poking around) a gateway only to official, governmental information and data; and not – as far as I looked - to any independent information let alone analysis and reflection, whether institutional or individual; let alone anything ‘critical’ or alternative in nature…

Which perhaps should not be entirely surprising, given various things. But I thought that just as you passed this information / news on to us (“this may be of use”), it might also be of some use for me to mention this. Do you think it would be of any value to pass this observation back to your source, in case he would like to ask the hosts whether they would like to widen their scope ?

I’m also copying this reply onto other lists, where there may be people who would be interested to know of this initiative.

            Jai

> Our Central University of Punjab has created a unique world-wide gateway on COVID-19. It is designed to cater to anyone (professional or common man) interested in the subject. It imparts up-to-date authentic information for reference, research, funding sources, guidelines, notifications and the initiatives of different Governments of the world under one roof. This will get automatically updated daily. Such a portal is the only one of its type in the world.
