Greetings! During Donald Trump’s visit to India earlier thisyear in February, massive anti- Muslim violence started in North Eastern partof Delhi. And ever since protest against Citizenship Amendment Act intensifiedin different parts of India, Muslims have been target of hate and violence. Andnow during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, Muslims are being targeted for deephatred and all kinds of inhuman behavior which is shamelessly carried outday-in and day-out. 

 

Dr. Zafarul Islam Khan, Chairman of Minority Commission inDelhi is a noted scholar, journalist and human rights defender. He is beingsingled out for his dedicated work to safeguard Muslims lives and properties.He is targeted for being outspoken and fearless as his report after theviolence could testify. His comments on twitter are being distorted not only bythe trolls also by several media publications and television channels. Avociferous campaign demanding his removal from Delhi Minority Commission isunderway right now. 

 

We must defend and stand with Dr. Zafarul Islam Khan andtell truth to the power. He is a man of integrity and is fully committed topromote and protect not only minorities rights but also rights of the mostmarginalized and vulnerable sections of Indian society.

Dr.Zafarul Islam Khan is the Chairman of Delhi Minority Commission. For a few dayshe has been a victim of severe attack from the Hindu communal forces as well asa section of media. They are targeting him for posting a tweet. The communalforces have alleged that he had threatened them of taking up the issue ofIndian Muslims facing discrimination to the Arab world.

 

In fact,the charges against him are politically motivated. He is being targeted for hisidentity.

 

What hasirked the communal forces is his work. Zafarul Islam Khan is not affiliatedwith any party. Nor is he under compulsion to please his political masters. Heis well-qualified and knows his subject very well.  During the FebruaryDelhi riots, he was very active in giving relief to the marginalized sectionsand working for peace and harmony as the Chairperson of the Delhi Minority Commission.
