Subject: Invitation to the Global Tapestry of Alternatives from TNI
Date: Thu, 4 Jun 2020 10:12:27 +0200
From: Sol Trumbo Vila <soltrumbovila at tni.org>
To: ashishkothari at riseup.net
Dear Ashish,
My name is Sol Trumbo, I work for the Transnational Institute (TNI) in
Amsterdam, Fiona has given me your contact.
I meant to write to you for a long time and I am happy to be finally
exploring a possible collaboration. I find the Global Tapestry of
Alternatives a very timely and relevant initiative, which shares many
goals with one of the projects I coordinate at TNI, the Transformative
Cities initiative.
*Transformative Cities**
*
The Transformative Cities <https://transformativecities.org> initiative
is launched by a group of regional and international organizations (in
alphabetical order): European network for community-led initiatives on
climate change and sustainability (Ecolise), Friends of the Earth
International (FoEI), Global network of continental networks committed
to the promotion of Social Solidarity Economy (RIPESS), Habitat
International Coalition (HIC), the Global Platform for the Right to the
City (GPR2C) and the Transnational Institute (TNI).
Transformative Cities is an opportunity for progressive local
governments, municipalist coalitions, social movements and civil society
organizations to popularize and share their experiencesof building
solutions to our planet’s intertwined political and ecological crises.
The initiative draws on the emerging wave of transformative practices
and responses taking place at municipal level worldwide, by launching a
unique platform and award process that will facilitate the wider
dissemination of the lessons and inspiration from such practices.
I invite you to revise our website to get further insights about the
initiative.
*Open Call *
What I would like to stress is that at the moment we running the Open
Call of the Transformative Cities People´s Choice Award 2020. Here also
is a 1 minute video <https://youtu.be/z7u7fAkYG2M> to introduce it.
You can revise the Open Call here
<https://transformativecities.org/open-call-transformative-cities-initiative/>,
and the FAQ here
<https://transformativecities.org/frequently-asked-questions/>.
*The Open Call is running until 14th of June. *We find that the networks
and local initiatives linked with the
Global Tapestry of Alternatives could benefit greatly from this
initiative.Albeit a bit tight, there is still time to present cases
following thisApplication form
<https://transformativecities.org/open-call-application-form-2020/>.*
*
Please let me know if you have any questions. We could also have an
online conversation to solve any doubts.
In solidarity,
