Llamada a la acción: Haz que el Fondo Nacional Judío rinda cuentas

Las luchas por la justicia medioambiental, social, racial, económica y política están entrelazadas. Conectar estas luchas es una condición necesaria para un mundo sostenible.

Las políticas de ocupación y colonización de Israel no sólo constituyen una violación del derecho a la autodeterminación del pueblo palestino. El sistema de opresión y discriminación que Israel impone a los palestinos en todo el territorio bajo su control es un complejo de violaciones de los derechos humanos y del medio ambiente, construido sobre una visión de subyugación que tiene como objetivo el pueblo, la tierra y sus recursos naturales.

Opera a través de diferentes instituciones que apoyan al gobierno israelí, entre ellas el Fondo Nacional Judío (JNF).

El JNF se disfraza de ecologista pero tiene un pasado vergonzoso y un presente espantoso.

Según Independent Jewish Voices Canada, "desde su creación hace 120 años, el Fondo Nacional Judío-Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael (JNF-KKL) ha sido uno de los principales motores de la colonización de tierras palestinas. Posee el 13% de las tierras de Israel y ha contribuido a afianzar el apartheid en el país mediante su política de arrendamiento de tierras exclusivamente a judíos".

El JNF se autodenomina la mayor organización verde de Israel y la más antigua del mundo por sus proyectos de forestación de millones de árboles para cubrir las ciudades y pueblos palestinos que Israel destruyó cuando se creó en 1948. El objetivo es impedir que los palestinos desplazados vuelvan a sus hogares. Esto nunca es un acto respetuoso con el medio ambiente, sino que es un desplazamiento y una colonización de tierras ajenas.

Aunque se le aplaude como una organización respetada a nivel mundial en materia de forestación, desarrollo sostenible y agua, el JNF ha sido responsable de drenar el ecológicamente sensible lago Hula y las marismas circundantes.

En la actualidad, el JNF y otras organizaciones de colonos de derechas respaldadas por el gobierno participan activamente en la inminente expulsión de unas 90 casas palestinas del barrio de Silwan y de otros lugares de Jerusalén.

A pesar de su larga implicación en la continua negación del derecho al retorno de los refugiados palestinos, la desposesión de los ciudadanos palestinos de Israel y las actividades de expansión de los asentamientos ilegales en la Cisjordania ocupada, el JNF nunca ha rendido cuentas.

La explotación de la lucha por la justicia climática por parte del sistema opresor israelí y sus instituciones como el JNF sólo perpetúa las injusticias sociales y medioambientales.

Es hora de actuar. Como organizaciones medioambientales que defienden los principios de las luchas anticoloniales y de justicia social, nos comprometemos a

- Apoyar las iniciativas de FOE Palestina y otras para contrarrestar el lavado verde promovido por el JNF y otras instituciones israelíes.
- Oponernos al hecho de que en muchos de nuestros países el JNF tenga estatus de organización benéfica, a través del cual financia sus actividades ilegales y discriminatorias en Palestina, y apoyaremos las iniciativas para revocar este estatus siempre que sea posible.
- Oponerse a cualquier intento del JNF y sus aliados de obtener el reconocimiento oficial de la COP, las Naciones Unidas u otras instituciones.
- Exigir que el JNF rinda cuentas por sus violaciones de los derechos humanos y del Derecho Internacional y por su papel en el régimen de apartheid de Israel, incluso mediante la investigación legal y el enjuiciamiento a nivel nacional e internacional.
