Thank you, Umakant, for this fond post on Gail, who was a truly remarkable activist, thinker, and intellectual, and thank you for reminding us of the seminal nature of her writings. I can only imagine what a loss her going is for you and for all those who were members of that circle.

I join all others who knew and/or remember Gail, in saluting her : Gail, Walk on in Power !

I knew Gail far less that I now wish… We met for the first time only in 1999, and then subsequently met just a few times – but each occasion was memorable. Including an especially warm and enjoyable evening in Delhi, together with Bharat Patankar, her life and ideological partner. What a strong person ! And what a privilege to have known her.

In celebration of a great person – and personality - and of a great life, well lived !

            Jai

> My final words of advice to you are educate, agitate and organize; have faith in yourself. With justice on our side I do not see how we can lose our battle. The battle to me is a matter of joy. The battle is in the fullest sense spiritual. There is nothing material or social in it. For ours is a battle not for wealth or for power. It is battle for freedom. It is the battle of reclamation of human personality.
