We Stand with India's Farmers!
A solidarity statement in support of the brave and historic protests in
India from farmers, and other agroecology, farm, and food justice networks
in the U.S.

Deadline: COB Tuesday, February 16, 2021
Greetings RC Members and Allies,
At the Rural Coalition Winter Forum, our members requested that we convey
our support for the massive, brave, and historic protests by farmers in
India. We have joined with our sister U.S. farm, food, and racial justice
organizations, including National Family Farm Coalition, Northwest Atlantic
Marine Alliance, the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, and the
Grassroots Global Justice Alliance, and members of the Indian diaspora in
the US who continue to work with farmers groups in India, to develop a
Solidarity Statement in support of this important struggle.

We ask you now to join with our Coalition and our sister organization in

The diverse farmer and farmworker groups from across the subcontinent seek
our support. They are united in their powerful protest of the Indian
government’s agricultural marketing reforms that would remove price
protections in the Indian agriculture and food sectors, not only at the
cost of farmers, but also the food security of vulnerable sectors of the
population.

Please share this action alert with other aligned organizations for their
endorsement by Tuesday, February 16. We will share the final statement with
you, so that you can use it to develop more public support for the protest.
