> LAGO AGRIO.- El 14 de febrero, del 2011, luego de más de 18 años de lucha jurídica, el presidente de la Corte provincial de Justicia de Sucumbíos en Lago Agrío, dictó la primera sentencia condenatoria en contra de la empresa Petrolera CHevron (antes Texaco). Más de 30.000 personas, pertenecientes a ocho Pueblos y Nacionalidades Indígenas (Cofán, Kichwa, Siekopai, Siona, Shuar, Waorani) y diversas comunidades colonas, tenían razón en sus reclamos.

> Esta sentencia fue ratificada por todas las instancias judiciales del Ecuador, incluso en junio 2018 por la [Corte Constitucional del Ecuador,](http://texacotoxico.net/corte-constitucional-nego-la-accion-extraoridnaria-de-proteccion-pedida-por-chevron-corp/) que emitió su fallo inapelable e imprescriptible, con el cual puso fin al litigio en el Ecuador. Desfortunamente, dos meses despuès, Chevron obtuvo un laudo arbitral favorable a la petrolera que entre otras cosas dispone que el Gobierno del Ecuador realice todas las acciones necesarias para que logre la nulidad de la sentencia del caso Lago Agrio, además que impida que los demandantes del caso Lago Agrio podamos realizar la ejecución de la sentencia fuera del Ecuador.
