As the work of Carolyn Merchant and Silvia Federici has demonstrated - 
the persecution of women as witches is both a deep cultural aspect of many patriarchal societies and ongoing still across societies round the globe.
Surely we need to integrate this phenomenon with our political analysis - uncomfortable as it may be … ?
