Dear Friends

Greetings! The COVID-19 pandemicneeds extra-ordinary leadership and also extra-ordinary intervention by theGovernment of the day, and not the lack luster approach with which theGovernment and its agencies have responded to the crisis situation.  It is a matter of concern and yes, a “NewVision” is needed to take India forward.

In the absence of the requiredpolitical will by the Government of the day, and more and more centralizingpower in selective group of expert’s hands, and shrinking of de-centralizedpower system, there does not seem to have positive outlook for economy and ultimatelypolitical stability. The prospects for a better economic future are beingeroded on a massive level.

Do share it with others in yourcircle/network.

In an interview where he is frequentlysharply critical of the Modi government’s policies and behaviour, althoughwithout directly naming it, and where he also lays out his vision for India’sfuture and its economic recovery, Raghuram Rajan has said “the lack ofpreparedness on vaccines is devastating”. He called it “a failure ofgovernment”. Later in the interview, Dr. Rajan, a former Governor of theReserve Bank of India and now an internationally acclaimed Professor of Financeat Chicago University, spoke about what has gone wrong in India and articulatedhis personal vision for the country’s future. He said: “We haven’t been doingwell for some time and need to rethink our future going forward. What is theIndia we want? We need a new vision for India”. He said a new vision will givethe country confidence and restore its economic recovery to pre-pandemic levelsbut he asked “where is the vision?” At the end he said “more than atmanirbharwe need atmavishwas. We need to believe in ourselves”.

My final words of advice to you are educate, agitate and organize; have faith in yourself. With justice on our side I do not see how we can lose our battle. The battle to me is a matter of joy. The battle is in the fullest sense spiritual. There is nothing material or social in it. For ours is a battle not for wealth or for power. It is battle for freedom. It is the battle of reclamation of human personality.
