Peru in movement…, Feminisms in movement…, Resistance in movement…, Democracy in movement…, The Left in movement…
[In the present, heavily-disputed and stacked context in Peru – where Pedro Castillo of the Perú Libre party has won the presidential election (even if narrowly), and the right wing candidate Keiko Fujimori of Fuerza Popular has lost the election but “has refused to concede – and has hired the very best of Peru’s legal minds to challenge the election results”, here, a popular appeal launched by independent left feminists in Peru.

FIRMES EN LA DEFENSA DEL VOTO POPULAR Y LA DEMOCRACIA
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdbYVFMI1elwBwxvLIKS6sFRbYLP_D_3DRYXdnpbR8-aeCxPA/viewform

STAND FIRM IN THE DEFENSE OF THE POPULAR VOTE AND DEMOCRACY
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdbYVFMI1elwBwxvLIKS6sFRbYLP_D_3DRYXdnpbR8-aeCxPA/viewform
We maintain that anti-capitalist, anti-colonial and anti-racist feminism is an essential part of the process of democratic and cultural transformation that the country requires in order to build a society of full citizenship, without the exclusion of women or of indigenous, native, peasant and Afro-Peruvian peoples. Therefore, we declare the following:
1. Two weeks after the second round of voting, we see with concern the disdain for the popular vote on the part of the powers that be, the traditional politicians and the press, which shows a serious social fracture and a look of disdain and contempt for our regions. Democracy cannot exist without the participation of all sectors of society; today the popular vote has been pronounced in favor of Pedro Castillo, a rural teacher from Cajamarca, and ignoring this result endangers our democratic future.
2. The criminal accusations against members of the voting tables, the demand to annul the electoral process, the call for a military coup, and the recent request for censure of the Board of Directors of the Congress with its President Mirtha Vásquez as one of the main targets, in order to seize power in the Legislative and cover up the election of magistrates of the Constitutional Tribunal that would be born flawed, only feeds the chaos and intolerance to disregard the electoral results.
3. As citizens, we embrace feminism not only to make visible aggressions against women but against all those who suffer them. Our objective is to manage policies that prioritize the care of life, as well as its sustainability and reproduction in relation to our bodies and nature. Democracy is built with us, women from all regions and social classes; therefore, we denounce racist, misogynist, lesbotransphobic and homophobic attacks through social networks, media and street rallies.
4. Aware of the obstacles that the patriarchal policies of the State and successive Peruvian governments have historically imposed on our continuous demands, we remain vigilant that the transition government, as well as the one that takes office in July, represent the interests of men and women.
It is our conviction that the winning candidate in these elections, as the representative of a left-wing party and coalition, will assume the struggle for women's social, political, sexual and reproductive rights, and will respect parity and alternation because the struggle for equality in our country, in order to be truly democratic, necessarily includes the struggle for gender equality.
