Dear Francine - not quite! I am using the word - ‘modernity’ below - as understood by activists in de-colonial politics.
The Left in general has been slow in making connections between eurocentric modernity and destruction of life-processes wrought by instrumental rationality.
The global vaccination of human peoples is part of the same hubris as expressed in the geo-engineering of natural environments.

The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy is coordinating a five-year research plan to study ways of modifying the amount of sunlight that reaches the Earth in order to temporarily temper the effects of global warming.
There are several kinds of sunlight-reflection technology being considered, including stratospheric aerosol injection, marine cloud brightening and cirrus cloud thinning.
Stratospheric aerosol injection involves spraying an aerosol like sulfur dioxide into the stratosphere, and because it has the potential to affect the entire globe, often gets the most attention.

As researchers on the Feminism and Degrowth list have noted - there is already a lot of action from pro-SRM (solar radiation management) advocates to institutionalize and advance these technologies within the IPCC, COPs and different UN bodies, including the UN Human Rights Commission, which included SRM in its evaluations as part of the set of "climate protection" technologies.
Funding for SRM lobby and research is coming from billionaire philanthropists such as Bill Gates and others, linked to tech capital and green capitalism advocates.
